Markers

I am one of those who writes: lists/ to-dos/reminders/events/appointments...etc. I also write notes of inspiration. Ways of reminding myself of the goodness and positivity of myself and of life when it looks like the world is going to hell. Without a hand basket.
Nature doesn't write it markers. It displays them quietly and gently. You just need to look. Early spring, which seems to be lingering here in New Jersey, has its displays of the early flowering of trees and plants, while the sun arrives earlier and leaves later in the day. I track the sun by where I see it during the day. The sun goes from the far right of my home at the winter solstice, to the far left of my home, which is when we have the summer solstice. These markers have not changed in the 36 years I have been in my home. Quiet and most dependable.
Which is most lacking today. The world is far from quiet and very far from dependable. While I am most aware that in life, neither truly exists, there is a greater uncertainty that has permeated our population. This is most alive and flourishing in our news and social media.
These things have overshadowed nature's markers and even some of our manmade markers.
For now, we have begun the unofficial start of summer. A marker for many to think, plan and pursue a time of R and R, as we take a moment to thanks those who gave their lives for our country. But something tells me that the markers of our near future will not be quite what we want nor planned for.
So, whatever you can do with whatever you have available to you, make a positive mark. Thank you.
